Locally we had incendiary bombs dropped to the south of the town (that was quite close to us); we had many aircraft come down - our own.

I witnessed two aeroplanes crashing in to each other — they came up and then crashed, one fell back and burned out and the other just crashed down. The pilots were both killed.

This story was collected by Sian Roberts and submitted to the People’s War site by Becky Barugh of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Shropshire CSV Action Desk on behalf of Gordon Jones and has been added to the site with his permission. Mr Jones fully understands the site's terms and conditions.
