Walking around Oswestry, I often wondered how our parents fed us, but there was always something there for us.
The rationing affected us but as we lived in the country there were a lot of vegetables being produced and my parents were very thrifty with what they had.
My Father and I used to cycle 12 miles to go and get a rabbit on a Sunday morning! There wasn鈥檛 an abundance of anything, but we did as well as could be expected with what was available.
This story was collected by Sian Roberts and submitted to the People鈥檚 War site by Becky Barugh of the 大象传媒 Radio Shropshire CSV Action Desk on behalf of Gordon Jones and has been added to the site with his permission. Mr Jones fully understands the site's terms and conditions.
