My lasting Memory of World War II is………………living in the Ellenbrook Road area of Boothstown and much of my play was in the grounds of the Mines Rescue Station where there were other children of my age group. For VE Day and again for VJ Day we had massive bonfires and lots of food. My memories say fireworks but they weren’t available in war time were they?
