a wonderful day for Salford Children. Weeks before the big day our mothers were collecting coppers and bits of food each week for baking and providing some treats for the street party. Tables and chairs were brought outside and everyone chipped in with sandwiches and buns and anything they could provide. A record player provided the music and at bed time — no need for black out curtains — PEACE!!
