'P. & O. S.S. “Rajputana”, 17.000 Tons'
My Family and I were living in Egypt in 1939, but as war was imminent, we were evacuated back home to England in March 1939. We left from Port Said aboard the 'Rajputana'.
This photograph is of the Rajputana - the ship we sailed home on.
The image is from a postcard that we sent on our journey home. The caption reads:
'P.& O. S.S. “Rajputana”, 17.000 Tons'
This story was submitted to the People’s War site by Becky Barugh of the ý Radio Shropshire CSV Action Desk on behalf of Mrs Julia Frost who very kindly shared it with us. It has been added to the site with her permission and she fully understands the site's terms and conditions.
