I was evacuated in Stamford Linconshire in WW2 With the Jibb family. My memory of Mrs Jibb, she was a very short lady allways in a pinny very loveable. I moved to USA in later years and often thought of those nice people so in 2001 got in touch with them. Mrs Jibb had passed on but her son Eric remembered me so my husband and I made a trip to Stamford and saw him and his wife. Since then Eric passed away. I am so glad I got to see him before he died. I also saw the house that I had so many happy memories in as a child when times were so bad for many people.I also remember their dog called Trixy, was very protective of me. The flats that my mum and I lived at in Croydon Surrey was blown to bits. We were in the basement when it got hit so I am very luck to be here to tell this story.
I remember my gas marsk was minny mouse in a little brown box. Powdered eggs and milk and cod liver oil was awful.
I do hope my grandchildren do not have to got through a war like I did.
Reguards to all Evacuees.
