My war didn鈥檛 really get going until 1942. Prior to that my only contribution was helping out at a First aid post with the St John Ambulance.
I had been on duty [in Belfast?] during a fairly light raid and when the all clear went I accompanied one of the girls to her home where we sat talking and drinking tea. Come daylight I walked home to find out our house had been hit and my bed was now in the coal cellar!
