On the 19th October 1943 my Grandfather, Illius Healey, took his wire haired fox terrier for a walk to Westwood in Beverley, Yorkshire. This little dog was afraid of nothing. My Grandfather saw a man coming out of the mist carrying a coffin. Then he noticed that this man was actually floating about a foot above the ground. The brave little dog was terrified and wrapped its lead twice around Grandfather鈥檚 legs. My Grandfather thought to himself 鈥淚 didn鈥檛 see that!鈥. When he got back home a telegram had arrived giving the awful news that his son, my Uncle Lawrence, had been shot down in his Lancaster and killed in action.
