The air-raid siren had sounded and all the family made a dash for the Anderson shelter in the front room. We scrambled on hands and knees into the shelter and as the warden shouted ‘put that light out’ Mum started laughing saying ‘if a bomb drops now I’ll get a bottom full of glass’.
