My parents come from Leeds West Yorkshire, and they met while they were at school this is astory told to me by my mother. Mum and Dad[Grace and Eric Weston] both served in the Forces Mum in the Royal Air Force, Dad in the Army, When. When Mum was on leave and Dad wasnt she use to visit my Dads Parents. Both sets of Grandparents lived a mile and a half apart on Leeds Ring Road in Wortley West Yorkshire this road lies in asmall dip in the hills the ring road runs through this dip on one side of this dip are rolling hills and on the other is Kirkstall Goods Yard, which was bombed quite frequently by the Luftwaffe. Mum use to go to my Grandparents house and stay for tea and have a game of cards and then my Grandfather who was a Air Raid Warden use to insist on walking my Mum home along the Ring Road . Mum said when they had been bombing the goods yard you could see the glow in the sky and here the noises from the bombing over the hill as they were walking home. She says it is something she will never forget Jean Rossiter Telford Shrops
