My husband was a plumber in Hemsworth, he worked at Hanleys, they said because he was the only plumber in Hemsworth he didn鈥檛 need to join the forces. He said 鈥渞ight then, we鈥檒l get married鈥.
We did get married, then three weeks later he was called up into the Army. He was sent into Kent where there were heavy attacks.
I remember being left here with the rationing and having to queue for food.
