My Uncle Len (who is still alive) was a navigator on Stirling bombers and after he finished his tour of OPs was training navigators in Wellingtons. He came home on leave and told the family if we came up to Silverstone there was a good place to lodge. Hintons was the name of the family, so that I came out of harm's way (from the flying bombs) with my mum and gran. I also visited the airfield (unofficially) and sat in the pilot's seat

This story was collected and submitted to the archive by a volunteer from Community Action Wyre Forest Volunteer Bureau at the SVR 1940s weekend on behalf of Mr Craney. Mr Craney full understands the site's terms and conditions.
