Lance Corporal Alexander Barr, 193 Field Ambulance RASC

TO THE NEW MOON

A new moon shines in the sky tonight
A heavenly crescent, clear and bright
How often will it wax and wane
Ere peace comes to the earth again.

I hope when peace does come at last
And all the noise of war is past
Justice shall shine as clear as you
And every sinner get his due.

I pray that retribution, swift and sure
Will come to those who would oppress the poor
Freedom and liberty reign over all
And all earth鈥檚 petty tyrants fall.

Like you, the earth with cloud gets overcast
Surely, like you, peace will break through at last,
Peace o鈥檈r the earth once more hold sway
And clouds of war be driven away.

漏 L/Cpl. Alexander Barr. 193 Fld Amb. R.A.S.C.
