Vivid Memories of Wartime as an 11- to 14-years old in Eltham, London, SE9 between 1942 and 1945.
庐 Doing a paper round and collecting shrapnel, bullet case and incendiary bomb fins, from previous night鈥檚 raid.
庐 Getting machine-gunned in daylight after coming out of a cinema.
庐 Diving into Anderson shelter when siren went whilst on paper round.
庐 Out cycling and watching oil bombs descending.
庐 Watching 鈥渄oodle-bugs鈥 and waiting for the explosions.
庐 Being two streets away from a V2 and seeing the utter devastation afterwards.
庐 Rationing, queuing, and sweet coupons.
庐 Schooling totally disrupted and being moved around so many times.
庐 Being evacuated for two weeks. I pined and Mother had me home.
