The Royal British Legion, as this country's foremost ex-service organisation, is, like the 大象传媒, taking a leading part in celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the end of WW2. Market Harborough Branch, as this year's winner of the Legion's top award, the Lister Cup, is proud to be involved by acting as an Associate Centre in the People鈥檚 War Project .
Our role is to add to the archive some of the many stories our members and others have produced for our monthly newsl etter, "In Touch", and to encourage other groups and individuals to record their war-time experiences.
Contributions can be handwritten, typed or on disc, in note form for us to edit or by audio recording. Potential authors doubting their literary skill can helped to produce good copy.
We are not able to provide public internet access to enable authors to enter their stories directly to the website but we are co-operating with Market Harborough Library which has that facility.
POST SCRIPT
As the end of the contribution phase of the People's War Project comes to a close, I wish to add a personal note to the above introduction.
As the instigator of Market Harborough Royal British Legion involvement in the project, I must record my personal thanks to all those within and outside the Branch who have provided stories and pictures for publication or who have helped with transcription. I also wish to thank the project team at 大象传媒 East Midlands for their help and encouragement.
I hope that people who have read, or who may in the future read, any of the seventy contributions we have made, will have found them interesting and informative.
It has been a privelege and an honour to have been part of such a valuable and imaginative activity.
