my grandparents and mum lived in the kent road area of blackpool before the war and afterwards my dad and uncles wre all in the war but my dad an uncle jack moran were both captured by the japanese at singapore and were taken to a prisoner of war camp my dad is now 85 and never talked about what happened there he still has nightmares about it he has never even talked to my mum about what happened i should imagine there are many more pows that have kept it in al this time after as well my grandmother used to take in lodgers during this time she took in airmen scottish people polish and vitually anyone who needed a place to stay or were in need of help she once took in as they were called ladies of the night she was a lovely lady
my mum worked at the munnitions factory doin her bit for king and country her sister was i think what they used to be called a bookies runner she was the blacksheep i can say this as she is no longer with us although i dont think she would have minded
i would like to have put in more detail about the war but with my dad not dicussing it with anyone before i dont think it is right to start digging up bad memories for him i just wonder if anyone out there does remember him or my uncle who is also no longer here to tell the tail
