My story starts in Belgium, in Antwerp, I was in Chateau Haveldonk, near durn. The Chateau belonged to the Petolkirk of Belgium. The house keeper Madam Louise Digermans was someone within the chateau who I became friends with. Her son had been away for three years in Germany for forced labour and she was desperate to see him again. She showed me a picture of her son Marseille. One day she said to me, 鈥淚f you ever see my son bring him back鈥. I said I would try and keep that promise to her.
It was time for me to move on again so I went on for a few weeks advancing through Belgium. I went back to Haveldonk, as I went up to the gates a man jumped from a bus, who looked very familiar to me. I then realised it, was Marseille who I had seen in the pictures. To make sure I asked him in German what his name was. His mother came rushing out throwing her arms around her son ecstatically.
To this day Louise Digermans thinks I brought home Marseille that day, as she didn鈥檛 see him coming off the bus and just saw the two of us stood there together.
Me and Marseille are like brothers now. I go to visit him and we talk regularly over the phone.
