The second world war ended on the 2nd of SEPTEMBER 1945,and there was a party to be held not far from my parents house on some waste ground on about the 3rd or 4th of September, that night my parents were going to parties at different friend houses,so I was left to do what I liked I was just on thirteen years of age and was told that I was big enough to look after my self.So I went to the party, there was already a fire going when I arrived there and a lot of people many of them in the services. There were quite a few Brengun Carriers parked which had been brought back from the war in Europe so I decided to get in one and try and start it, egged on by the crowd. The starting motor still worked so I got it moving about six inches at a time much to the delight of the crowd,by this time the crowd were getting very drunk and were in good voice for many of the old war time songs.Sometime after 10.00pm I decided to go home, my parents and young brother were still not back,so I went to bed wondering what the future had in store, well at nearly sixty years later we know.Itis in the history books now, good or bad.
