I was born in Birmingham in 1938
My earliest memory is of going round the garden with a basket, collecting the shrapnel that had arrived in the garden during the night.
Other memories are of going down into the shelter and listening to Itma on the radio (powered by an accumulator), and the noise, which I now was from the guns, was always put down to "crackling on the radio" by my father.
