A VE day street party.

Being told that Dad was coming home but not knowing who he was.

A very vague memory of the streets around Godalming being full of tanks and lorries before D-day and soldiers everywhere. In those days practically every man was in uniform.

I don't remember any bombs but do remember bomb sites everywhere in London. When Mum said that she was going to Bond Street, I thought she said 'Bombed Street' - and it had indeed been bombed!
