The only memory of my father is a photograph, and a bit of paper saying he gave his life for king and country and the ending of tyranny in Europe. My father died in 1952, he was disabled out of the Royal W.F., and I was nearly 5 years old, I was born in July 1947, my brother Brian 1948, and Keith 1952, the trouble in the old days, that children were kept from the death of a parent as much as possible. the net result of this was my Mum being a single mum with 3 kids at the age of 25. The army pension was very small, and relatives, my Nain wanted me, another Aunt would take Brian, and Keith was to go to my Mums mum, Mum was put under a lot of pressure to do this, as she could then rebuild her life, she refused, times were hard, though at the time us kids never gave it a thought, some people had, some did not.
