My first memory is that I was lucky I came back intact! The only other one is about another Telegraphist who returned to the Uk with us on the HMS Searcher. He was "Chesty" Draper from Rugby.

On the way down from Greenock the train stopped just outside Rugby, in a flash he opened the door and jumped down on to the track to vanish. Leaving all his kit behind. We (That is the Tel.S. Association) have never been able to find out what happened to him. We put him down as missing but not presumed dead!
