One day myself and Mrs Bladon and two daughters, a son and a nephew caught the train to London. It was very crowded and we stood all the way to Kings Cross. We had been told this was a holiday.
From Kings Cross we went to Trafalgar Square. It was crowded with happy people who danced in and out of the fountains. We joined in and did the congo going round and round.
We decided we should find some way to have a meal and the obvious place was Lyons Corner House in Charing Cross Road. On our way we passed a car. There were not many people about but someone said 鈥淲hy, it鈥檚 Monty鈥. We all rushed over and I remember putting my arm in and saying 鈥淕ood old Monty鈥. I don鈥檛 know what he thought but I didn鈥檛 hear him saying anything.
After a nice meal which included sherry to celebrate we went to the Palace and found ourselves right in front of the railings when the whole royal family came out. It was the end of a wonderful day which I will never forget.
