in 1945 I was working in Queen Victoria Hospital in Netley — looking after wounded soldiers. I was in Sicily, Italy, Normandy and Germany with 4th Army Brigade. We dug ourselves into trenches. I was in the desert rats for 4 years. I was captured and escaped with four comrades many men were lost in the desert — covered over with sand.
