I was born in Maltby, Yorkshire and started school when I was 5 years old. I left school when I was 14 years old. The 1939 war started when I was 9 years old and ended when I left school. We were lucky as living in a village we didn鈥檛 get bombed, but heard Luftwaffe over Sheffield bombing the factories. This is all I can think of as I don not write as much as I did. I married when I was 36 and had 2 sons.

Now you have made a start, other memories may come flooding back to you.

Perhaps memories of young men of your village being called up. Perhaps there were evacuees sent to your village. Or Land Army girls sent to work in your fields, or later, prisoners of war.
