Thomas Wright (father) - retired. Served as fire watcher during air raids.
Emily Wright (mother) - a tower of strength.
Harry (son) - exempt from military service due to his age and previous service in the First World War when he was wounded and taken prisoner by the Germans.
Fred (son) - was not called up for military service due to his age. Served as an Air Raid Precautions Warden.
Horace (son) as a steelworker was in a reserved occupation. Served in the Home Guard.
Lena (daughter)- employed by the Durham War Agricultural Executive concerned with the control and production of food in war-time. Also served in the Observer Corps.
Les (son)- served in the Royal air Force.
Gladys (daughter)- served in the Auxilliary Fire Service. A war-time mother.
Jim Taylor (Lena's husband)- served in the Army (Royal Corps of Signals) in North Africa and Italy.
Ernie Moore (Gladys's husband)- served in the Royal Navy.
Greta(Les's wife)- also employed by the Durham War Agricultural Executive and served as fire watcher at Houghall School of Agriculture.
Lilian(Greta's sister)- also employed by the Durham War Agricultural Executive. Eventually called up for National Service and sent to work in a Birmingham factory in lieu of military service.
Jack Scorer (Lilian's future husband)- served in the Royal Air Force with part of his service spent in India.
Eric (Gladys's son)- war-time baby.
Freddie(Fred's son)- after the war was called up for National Service and served in Malaysia in the war against the Communists.
