I was there for the Easter Tuesday and I was only home from being at the Empire Theatre and the sirens went off. Everyone got out and my younger brother was only 6weeks old. We had the pram half way between the hall and the living room but I remember mummy had to go to the toilet out the back and the back door blew in and she thought she was gone for. The next night we were in the house on our own and my daddy was working at Shorts, the aircraft factory. He had to lie along the river bank all night because the planes came back. After that my aunt came and took us to the country and we stayed there for a year and a half.
