I was a little girl in Persia during the war. I went to Tabris, a big city in Iran - coming back on a coach. The driver was not allowed to put any lights on - and a man walked in front of the bus with a white handkerchief - all the way with no lights in the road.
I remember Russian soldiers in their Jeeps in Tehran. The war affected our imports - we were short of flour and sugar. Our bread was a dark colour. The schools were open all through the war. I only remember one or two bombs, and people went to see the bomb crater in the park. That was the only one near us, and people went to see it. I can remember my mother telling me the soldiers in Iran were Russian.
