Lance Corporal Alexander Barr, 193 Field Ambulance, RASC
THE FUTURE
What does the future hold? There鈥檚 none can say
Some will find happiness, days bright and gay
For others, naught but misery and tears
And suffering throughout eternal years.
Perhaps 鈥榯is well we cannot see ahead
And can鈥檛 discern the path we have to tread
Perhaps if we could see what lies before
We鈥檇 dread the future outlook even more.
All we can do is trust in God and pray
Pray that eternal peace may come some day
Man, if he鈥檇 only carry out God鈥檚 will,
Could cleanse the world, and vanquish every ill.
