I remember my own local school. The schools were reinforced with steelwork, steel sponsons, and the window panes were treated with plastic so there was more resistance to breakage.
The school I went to, I remember well. They came in, and they were scared that bombing would take place. And I remember, steel uprights, steel stanchions, being erected in the walls and across to give strength to the building.
The windows were taped with plastic, up and down, so that the shocks and that wouldn鈥檛 break the glass and go over some people.
