My brother was in the Grenadiers and he was sent to Windsor as one of the Kings guards. He was killed in 1943 in Tunisia. His regiment was wiped out during "Monty's push". My younger brother, Joe, joined the Coldstream Guards, went to Italy and survived the war.He was very proud of his regiment!
There were 2 prisoners of war working on a farm in Gateshead, both Italians, I used to take them their meals.
