I was born in 1924 so I was 18 years old at the begining of W.W.2.
I started to work in a joiner shop at Rolls Royce. I had varied jobs making firelighters for steam engines, and as an assistant to a woodturner. I had to lift planks for him to put through the machine. The nearest bomb I came to was the bottom of Colleys Lane, Nantwich, when I was cycling home. The bombers were heading for Liverpool.
On V.E day I joined the the party at Nantwich square.
