I was an air raid warden. Also in the civil defence concert party. Our duty was to take friends to the air raid shelter then 'parade the streets to put out the incendary bombs'.
Mu husband was invalided from the army in 1944. He was in a glider crash in the Sicilian raid. He saved the pilot and co pilot of the glider by carrying them (under mortar and gunfire) to safety. He was awarded AMM on the 21st October 1943 and presented on 12th Feb 1946.
