Photograph of George Lord aged 29 seated second from the left on the front row. The photograph was taken in February 1940 at Topson Barracks in Exeter, Devon, following a 10-mile cross-country run. George won the race coming home first out of 660 competitors and received a cash 1st prize of two shillings and six pence (12 ½ pence)
