Mr Karim joined the army in 1941.He was in the army for six years.
This is just part of his story.
I was in the engineering division and my main job was to clear the jungle so the infantry could march through.
When you are with your friends and you work together you dont feel weak. Youth was on our side.
We were once on the side of a very steep hill.We had to make our beds out of stilts.There was lots of rain.
You had to be prepared, anytime you could be called to go into the jungle at any time.

In 1947 I went back home and learnt how to weave.I then came to England and went to work in a mill.
Humanity goes away in war. Your purpose is to kill your enemy.
