My aunt Hilda lived on Mill Lane in Codnor, at one point during the war she had a Belgian family lodging with her who were evacuees from Liege. The adults came first and were followed by the children.

During their time in Belgium during the war they told us about when they used to work with the Belgian Resistance fighting against the Germans, they used to creep up behind the German soldiers and push them down manholes etc etc.
