In 1945 I was 9 years old and I went to Grove house school Wembdon. I recall a street party, which was held in the tennis courts of the local club. We enjoyed a celebration tea party with SPAM sandwiches home made cakes and jellies.
We also played egg and spoon races, sack bag races, and three legged races. It was all great fun.
