As the 7th Battalion of K.O.S. BORDERERS, based just north of the town of Saffron Walden. Our Battalion was part of the 111th AIR LANDING BRIGADE , our C.O.
MAJOR GENERAL URQUARTT!!! 1st AIRBORNE DIV.
Our C.O. was obviously involved, with KING HAAKON of NORWAY and we
as 111th BRIGADE, was being moved, by R.A.S. Company to the 38th TRANSPORT Command Group of R.A.F. GREAT DUNMOW. All this was being done late afternoon of MAY 7th whilst the 鈥淏IG BOYS鈥 where at LUNEBURG Heath, in WESTPHALIA, Germany. As AIRBORNE SQUADIES, were made use of special Sleeping Bags and Denison Smocks, Small Arms, 2 inch mortar ammunition, BREN GUNS, and special MARK 5 flash 鈥︹︹. 303 Rifles, etc. Eventually, we arrived at the perimeter runway of the Drome. GREAT DUNMOW. (NOW CALLED STANSTED) Would you believe at 11 鈥 11.30pm 7th May. By 鈥淔lash Light鈥 only, apart from the LANDING LIGHTS of the BOMBERS, as I approached this 鈥淪TIRLING鈥, the number 27 was marked on the side next the Door. As I was about to climb in, the Platoon Sgt MULHOLLAND said, Sorry Fulton, we鈥檙e full mate, get the next, and closed the Door. They were off!

Eventually I also took off! 鈥淎s a 1940 鈥 1943鈥 AIRCREW TRAINED A.T.C F/SGT CADET of 165 SQUAD FORT DUNLOP TYRES ERDINGTON. Next to my old factory SUPERMARINE VICKERS, 鈥淐 BLOCK鈥 WING SECTION. I soon got myself at home, with the R.A.F. Crew. Needless to say, the topic of the day was the Capitulation of NAZI 鈥 GERMANY. I soon realised that the NAAFI Canteen had often been open, in the evening and quite a few persons had started to get involved with the festivities, certainly not the PILOTS and Navigators, now realised, that the trip to OSLO was still a trip of some trepidation, with the time, now passed 鈥淢IDNIGHT鈥 on the Date of MAY 8TH Liberation day for the Norwegians. The KRUETZ were still armed as far as we were concerned. An unknown quantity!!!
My son Paul is on Continent 3 days per week. Occasionally I have VODKA to supp OCCASIONALLY!

When our STIRLING arrived over NORWAY the Cloud Base had rejoiced in what is known in R.A.F. parlance 10/10 Cloud, no (gaps) shown in most circumstances. Over a very mountainous Country as Norway. Perhaps the Pilot of No. 27 STIRLING of my acquaintance, had perhaps, been bothered by many things, including the 鈥淐apitulation of Adolf!鈥 after 6 Bloody years. Whilst an A.T.C. Cadet in 1942-3, we as a group of cadets, visited the Bombing Group of Lincolnshire FLETTON Peterborough area. Having gorged ourselves on AMERICAN food, whilst awaiting the Group鈥檚 return, from a trip to German area. We went to meet the BOMBERS returning CASUALTIES.
We watched, as they came to a halt. There were casualties including two WAIST GUNNERS, whom could only be removed out of the aircraft by powerful hosepipes. This is really, one way to realise that war is a very nasty business. As youngsters, we were learning the really hard way. I shall never forget those years! Slabs of PURE BUTTER on every PINE DINING TABLE with half used Ciggies stubbed out over em!!
Mothers would do their NUTS about this!!

The pilot of No.27 came down for some unknown reason, hit the mountain, skidded down the slope, hit a big Pine tree, removed the back end of the plane, 4 souls deposited the 4 into a lake were they drowned. The Sweden鈥檚 Army found the wreckage.
Buried my SGT in TORSBY CHURCHYARD with 2 CPLS and CONNELLY an Officer鈥檚 Batman!! Four Souls, buried, within the sight of VICTORY over these bloody KRUETZ!! At GARDEMEON the following Day. A Lieutenant CAMPBELL CANADIAN seconded to 7th K.O.S.B. With L/CPL FULTON 885 sir! and group of SEVEN BODS!!!

Borrowed, whichever; Luftwaffe B.M.W. Charcoal Burning Vehicle and disappeared into the Great Unknown, eventually arriving at a town called KONIGVINGER (KINGSCORNER) A Norwegian Fortress on the Glomma Valley close to NORGE/SWEDISH BORDER where we finished the job, for HAAKON OF NORWAY. And his QUISLINGS, etc. Thank you for bearing with me!
Have obtained very fine NORWEGIANS FRIENDS over the years since.
FINISHED. CPL FULTON 2 MESS ROYAL ENGs RAILWAYS B.O.A.R.BAD OEYNHAUSEN WESTHALNER. LIEUT COL CATCHPOLE R.E. PRESIDENT! DEMOBBED YORK 1949 鈥 REGISTERED PLUMBER SINCE!
