I am trying to find more details about my mothers uncle who went missing over Crete. I have very little information about him except that his name was Neville Seaton, he was from South Africa and was a Bomber nagivator. Unfortunately there are no living close relatives to try find out any more details.

Are there any sites where one can possibly find out more about missing Pilots and their crew or maybe there is even someone who knew a/of a Neville Seaton in Bomber Command.

Message 1 - N Seaton

If you search on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site www.cwgc.org there is a N St. L Seaton. A South African flying with 15 Sqdn - lost 23/2/44 and there are a few details there. Having the Sqdn and date gives a good starting point for further research.
You could also try posting on www.rafcommand.com bullitin board.
Good luck.

Bob

Next step is to get the Squadron Ops Record Book for the relevant period from the PRO (whoops - I mean National Archive) at Kew. That'll give you some more detail. If you can't, I'll take a look next time.

Thanks Martin for the info, unfortunately living in Africa makes it difficult getting to places like the National Archive. Is there any way that one can correspond with them by e-mail? It would really be appreciated if next time you visited there you could take a look for me.
Thanks again
Keith

Hmmm, see what you mean - bit more than a day trip from Africa, I guess.

You can contact PRO by email, but they make a pretty stiff charge for any research. I'll take a look next time I go (perhaps over the holiday period) and get copies of the relevant ORBs. I'll put a posting on this site to let you know how I get on.

All the best

I was in the PRO/NA today and have photocopied several pages from the ORB relevant to N Seaton. If you like to leave your e-mail address in my pigeon hole I'll contact you off board and see about getting these to you.
Look forward to hearing from you,
Bob B

Martin,
Thanks once again! Yes it is a wee bit more than a days trip...unfortunately. When you next go to PRO any information you can find on Neville Seaton will be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Keith
