A Good Time in Dieppe?

Having landed a contingent of Canadian troops at Puys near Dieppe in August 1942 I returned to Newhaven. I telephoned my sister early in the morning. After a yawn she answered and I said. 鈥淚鈥檝e just returned from Dieppe.鈥
鈥淚 know it well.鈥 She said. 鈥淒id you have a good time?鈥
She wasn鈥檛 to know several thousand Canadian soldiers were captured or killed during the ill-fated raid.
