I recall one night we heared a German had parachuted down a few streets away from where we lived, we set off in the direction of the incident, Alf had his Dad's opening iron a heavy iron impliment used to open the fish boxes he traded in, the other lads had armed themselves with thick sticks
Fortunately we encountered nothing, I'm not sure of our intentions had we met the foe,
was it to capture him, beat him to death,or maybe he would have finished all of us off in a brief burst of automatic fire.
However this was just a rumor one of so very many at this time, how lucky for us.
Ted Dann.
