I thought that the end of the war was a bit of an anti-climax because people were saying 鈥渢he war鈥檚 finished鈥�.I think鈥�. Isn鈥檛 it?鈥� and it sort of went like that. We were all waiting for someone to say 鈥淵es, Yes the war鈥檚 finished!鈥� but it didn鈥檛 happen of course until that evening, or the next day, and so it really wasn鈥檛 official until then.

Now we have VE Day, and we all know and we can all arrange parties.

We had a street party when it was made official. We put tables all down the street. Where I live was a cul-de-sac which used to go down to the church and the playing fields so it was perfect for the occasion. And from somewhere amazingly they got all sorts of food 鈥� it was amazing where it appeared from. But it was really fun!
