Strangely enough — the line apparently for evacuating London seemed to go down the middle of one road which stopped about a mile away from us.

I was also going to be evacuated to New Zealand. I’d had the medical and all the rest of it. I don’t really remember too many details — my Mother had since filled me in with these, but one of the first ships was torpedoed and they scrubbed the whole thing, they said it wads too dangerous and risky. I think the same thing happened to Canada as well.
