[Tell us about the VE day parties]
I was waiting to go out to Egypt. I knew I was going to get an overseas posting. Signals section didn鈥檛 get an awful lot of outings. We were always on shift-work.
We went from 1 disaster to another. When we went to Egypt they were disbanding the Palestinian Police. When we went down to Palestine, they blew up the hotel to start with.
That鈥檚 part of life.
