In about 1941 on a Saturday afternoon I remember that we were in the cinema when the siren went. It was a reconnaissance plane photographing the crowd leaving the local football match. As there were ship building yards around the area this was obviously interpreted as workers leaving a large factory as two nights later the Germans came and bombed the football ground and areas around it!
