I was a Landgirl for 7-1/2 years on a farm in Kelmscott, Oxfordshire, (the same village where William Morris lived). The lads on the farm used to shoot rabbits and gave me one which I sent to my mother living back in Balham. It was either sent with a tin over its head or wrapped in rags. My mother didn鈥檛 know what to do with it so she took it to Sainsbury鈥檚 who cleaned and sorted it out for her to cook to supplement her ration.
