My lasting Memory of World War II is鈥he happy years of life we had before September 1939 had gone forever. Our lives were now ruled by air raid warnings, fire watch rotas, war-work jobs, ration books and queuing food being in short supply. Also, loss of the friends and family members by enemy action. We will never forget the night of German air raids just before Christmas 1940. The memories may fade but we who are left will never forget.
