When I was a young girl my Grandmother told me stories of the war and her time as an ARP Warden. I was too young to ask many questions, but loved her stories. Her talk of rationing and one in particular; the lack of nylon for ladies stockings and the handy use of kohl pencils! Other stories are fading now and might be too inaccurate to write about. Sadly my Grandmother is no longer here to remind me. I still have her ARP badge.
My Grandfather never spoke too much about his time in the war, I knew he was never in the armed forces, but he always told me he had another important job to do during the war. Unfortunately my Grandfather also is no longer here, but soon after he died my mother discovered a folder full of techinical drawings that he had completed during the war. These drawings were all of various types of weapons. He never spoke of these drawings and now it is too late to ask. I always thought he had been joking about the importance of his job.
At this time in particular I miss my Grandparents and it's only now I'm older, I have so many questions to ask them about the war. It is so important that we remember.
