The first time I was evacuated was with my brother and sister to Raglan near Monmouth. Raglan is on the border with Wales. For myself it was on a farm, and my for sister it could have been 4 or 5 months.
My sister was about 14. They were worried because boys used to hang around.
The motorway goes straight through the middle of the farm, which looked very run down when we visited it a couple of months ago.
When we came back, myself and my brother were evacuated again, to Aberamen by Aberdare in Wales. We were there for the remainder of the war my brother and myself.
We were looked after by Mrs Williams and Mrs Rhys, who were caretakers of the school. I was seven when the war broke out so I would have been 11 or 12 at the time.
It was very good living there but we were too young to understand what was going on. Mrs Williams was a beautiful woman and she looked after us very well. She hadn't wanted us but she managed what she had to do.
My parents came to see us but I don't know how they were able to find the place because there were no signposts.
The school we used to go to was hit by a landmine and was absolutely demolished. The school in Birmingham which we used to go to; it's name was Ellen Street School, was destroyed just after we were evacuated.
Before we were evacuated we lived by the Lucas factory which made a lot of aircraft parts, was a target for German bombers.
You could say we got away from there just in time as there were hundreds killed my parents told us when they came to visit.
When we came back in 1944, before the war ended my parents told me about what happened.
