The Star Public House
By
Ernest Needham
I used to pass The Star Public House on my way to work at the latter end of the war. Beer was in short supply and public houses did not open every night, but if the Star had a delivery, they would put a big card in the window saying:
Twinkle Twinkle
Little Star
Are we open?
Yes we are.
